Liu Shifu’s Experience in Treating Chronic Renal Failure

Abstract

This article introduces Director Liu Shifu’s understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of chronic renal failure (CRF). It discusses his therapeutic approach using modified Shenqi Dihuang Tang as the base formula, combined with the methods of purging the bowels to eliminate turbidity and promoting qi circulation and activating blood circulation for the treatment of CRF with qi and yin deficiency. It also elaborates on his integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment strategy and presents a clinical case for reference.
